Joint statement from CHAPA, MACDC, and MAHA on American Rescue Plan Act housing spending in Massachusetts
December 7, 2021
We thank the Legislature for passing a bill that invests over $600 million from the Commonwealth’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Fiscal Recovery Funds into affordable housing. This funding will have a real impact on people’s lives by allowing us to quickly produce new affordable homes. We urge Governor Baker to sign this bill into law and put Massachusetts on a path to making homes more affordable and closing our racial homeownership gap.
June 7, 2021 – MAHA today announced that the Dorchester-based nonprofit’s long-time executive director, Tom Callahan, is departing at the end of 2021, starting a leadership transition process over the next six months. Tom’s decision will conclude a highly impactful 34 years of service to MAHA, with the last 30 as Executive Director.

Our congratulations to Kenzie Bok on winning the District 8 City Council seat yesterday. Kenzie becomes the first MAHA Board member to win elective office in the organization's 34 year history. Kenzie was a leader in the effort to pass the Community Preservation Act in Boston in 2016 and campaigned on a platform of increasing affordable housing opportunities in her district and throughout the city. We look forward to working with her in 2020.
