Dorchester, MA – Navigating the process of buying a home in the Boston real estate market can be daunting but the Dorchester-based Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance is offering to help. Graduates from MAHA’s first time home buying classes will be able to take advantage of a unique partnership. Starting in April, the non-profit MAHA will offer dedicated real estate services to qualified homebuyers and homeowners who graduated from their classes through a unique partnership with real estate agent and Hyde Park resident Alexander Jean-Baptiste.
At MAHA, we get it. It is a hard time for first-time homebuyers in Boston and greater Boston. Home prices are high and getting higher.
But we can help. MAHA has been assisting first-time homebuyers like yourself for over 25 years. In that time, nearly 30,000 people have graduated from our homebuyer and homeowner classes. Over 20,000 people across the state have accessed an affordable mortgage program that MAHA has negotiated with area banks.
MAHA held its annual meeting on December 5th and celebrated the adoption of the Community Preservation Act in Boston with 74% of voters approving question 5 this November.
August 10, 2023 – Partnership for Financial Equity released First-Gen Home: A Massachusetts Finanacial Equity Innovation Story today, a report on the emergence of housing assistance programs that prioritize first-generation homebuyers starting in Dorchester with Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance's STASH program. Since 2019, the concept has taken off and now there are eleven locations across the country that have first-generation programs.
Joint statement from CHAPA, MACDC, and MAHA on American Rescue Plan Act housing spending in Massachusetts
December 7, 2021
We thank the Legislature for passing a bill that invests over $600 million from the Commonwealth’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Fiscal Recovery Funds into affordable housing. This funding will have a real impact on people’s lives by allowing us to quickly produce new affordable homes. We urge Governor Baker to sign this bill into law and put Massachusetts on a path to making homes more affordable and closing our racial homeownership gap.
