Apirl 30, 2021 - Last night, MAHA held its 13th annual Taste of Dorchester and for the second consecutive year it was a lively online event. Taste of Dorchester celebrates our local restaurant community and one highlight of the event was interviews with owners Teresa Maynard of Sweet Teez Bakery and Tambo Barrow of Bred Gourmet. Staff and board members ordered takeout from Dorchester restaurants including Irie Jamaican, Bred, Blarney Stone, Family Affair, 50 Kitchen, El Barrio and more.
Taste of Dorchester's presenting sponsor is the Arbella Insurance Foundation and last night Arbella Insurance Group President and CEO John Donohue was in attendance to announce a special three-year grant of $225,000 to MAHA to support its STASH first-generation homebuyer matched savings program. "Arbella will expand its support over the next several years to match MAHA’s expected growth through the Foundation’s new social justice initiative, which will increase support for organizations and programs that combat social and racial inequities," said Donohue. "We are proud to support MAHA in its efforts to reach thousands of first-gen homebuyers and do its part to narrow the racial homeownership gap in Massachusetts."
In addition to Arbella, MAHA thanks all of our sponsors, auction donors, ticket buyers and those who bid, donated and bought raffle tickets. Our sponsors include Lee Kennedy Company, Santander, Eastern Bank, Cambridge Trust, Vargas and Vargas Insurance, Vermont Mutual, Bob and Jean Sheridan, Dedham Savings, Norfolk and Dedham Insurance, and Norfolk Hardware. Our media sponsor is the Dorchester Reporter.
