On October 7, 2009, Richard J. Gavegnano, Chairman and CEO of East Boston Savings Bank wrote to MAHA stating that “You have my assurance that when the merger of our two institutions is finalized, East Boston Savings intends to participate in the SoftSecond program similar to Mt. Washington Cooperative Bank.”

July 28, 2023 – In June 2023, Partnership for Financial Equity and Woodstock Institute released their Mortgage Lending Matters report. The report found that in 2021 the number of mortgages to Black and Latinx households remained at an all time high in Massachusetts but that Boston is losing homebuyers of color.

BOSTON – February 16, 2022 – Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance (MAHA) today announced a 500 loan commitment over a five-year period from Eastern Bank that that will more than double its lending in the Massachusetts Housing Partnership’s ONE Mortgage program. Eastern has been a long-time participant in the program, and MAHA has successfully reached 23,600 low and moderate homebuyers with 60% of those being persons of color through the overall program. Eastern’s goal will be to fund at least 100 ONE Mortgage loans each year from 2021-2025.

Jan. 25, 2021 — The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) recently named MAHA's Director of Homeownership Education Symone Crawford and 41 other community leaders from across the country as consumer liaison representatives for 2021. The 23 funded and 19 unfunded consumer representatives began their terms Jan. 1. Thirteen of the funded consumer representatives participated in the program in 2020.
